Matt Dorfman is an internationally recognized designer and illustrator. He is the art director of the New York Times Book Review and former art director of the New York Times Op-Ed page. Additionally, he maintains a one-person office specializing in work for publishers, film, theater and various cultural institutions; The name of which, Metalmother, was determined largely on account of this song getting stuck in his head for a long period of time in his early twenties. There is no deeper read as to its meaning.
He was awarded the Richard Gangel Award for Art Direction from the Society of Illustrators in 2022.
